Gut to Brain Connection in Autism
by John Erickson on July 30, 2011
More and more research is supporting what I have already known. Diet plays a critical role in the management of Autism. This 2009 article:
“We have shown that urine peptide increase is found in autism, and that some of these peptides have a dietary origin.”
“We also show significant decreases in brain-gut peptides after introducing a gluten- and casein-free diet.”
CONCLUSIONS:
- An effect of diet on excreted compounds and behavior has been found.
- A brain-to-gut axis disorder promoted by gluten is probable in autism.
Our kids have to get off of gluten (and casein/milk) if they are dealing with a Neurodegenerative disorder like ADD, ADHD, Autism, etc.
